    Protest against Asia’s acquittal: Roads remain blocked in major cities as protest continues for third day

    Islamabad: Roads have been blocked in big cities across the country by the religious protestors for third day as Supreme Court acquitted Asia Bibi in blasphemy charges due to which country citizens are facing difficulties in routine work and transportation.
    As the protests continues Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TLP) has called for shutter-down strike and traffic jam strikes due to which several roads across the country have been blocked. Educational Institutes are also remained closed and exams are postponed in major cities across the country while Mobile services also suspended in Federal Capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi Lahore and Gujranwala Today. Less traffic has been seen on the roads as Educational Institutes announces holidays while several roads has been blocked and non-availability of public transport caused many problems for office workers.
    More than 25 roads have been blocked in Karachi. Teen Talwar, Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, Star Gate at Shahra-e-Faisal, Numaish, Sohrab Goth, Korangi 5, Ranchor Line, Power House Chowrangi, Nagan Chowrangi, Qayyumabad, Murtaza and Bilal Chowrangis, New Karachi, Surjani Town, Landhi 89 and Teen Hatti have been blocked.
    The people who are going to Jinnah International airport are advised to use University road as Star Gate and Malir has been blocked.
    In Lahore roads have been blocked at Charring Cross at Mall Road, Data Darbar, Shahdara Chowk, Askari X, Kalma Chowk and Bhatta Chowk.
    In Federal Capital Faizabad Interchange is blocked. Roads are blocked at Dhoke Kala Khan and Tramri and Karal Chowks. Further, roads leading to Taxila, Pir Sohawa, Sarai Alamgir and Gujrat are blocked.
    In Peshawar, the Ring Road and GT Road have been blocked. Roads leading to the motorway have also been blocked. While according to the Motorway Police M1 remains opened for traffic and according to the spokesperson of Motorway police traffic was affected on just few routes while route to Lahore and road from Kamoki to Rawalpindi remains opened for traffic and Kamoki to Lahore route was blocked.
    According to the spokesperson, alternative routes were provided to the traffic which was going to Gujjar Khan and Rawalpindi on National Highway while roads leading to Taxila, Sohawa, Dina, Sar-e-Alamghir, Gujrat, Cha Da Qila, Muridke, Nathe Khalsa, Paka Meel, Mohlanwal, Loharan Wala Koh, Sandar and Marakah have also been blocked.
