Karachi: President Dr. Arif Alvi has underscored the need for inclusion of private sector for development of Pakistan Railways.
Addressing a ceremony after inaugurating the local train Dhabeji Express in Karachi, he said during his recent visit to Turkey, the Turkish private sector has shown a great interest in the private public ventures with Pakistan.The President said a number of aspects of China Pakistan Economic Corridor are related with Pakistan Railways and we need to work harder for the development of the department.
The President asked the Federal Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid, who is to visit China with Prime Minister to deliberate on new railway initiatives for uplift of Railways. Earlier in his address, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that we will bring the railway out of debt within a year.He said the train is a gift of Prime Minister Imran Khan for the labourers. The Minister said that a new tracking system is being introduces in railways that would help lessen the misuse of oil in railways.
