International Day of Rural Women is being celebrated today (Monday) throughout the country
Islamabad: International Day of Rural Women is being observed today (Monday) across the country.
The UN celebrates and honors International Day of Rural Women, the role of rural women on October 15 each year since October 15, 2008. It recognizes rural women’s importance in enhancing agricultural and rural development worldwide.
In this context many organizations active for the rights of rural women folk, Government agencies and community groups will arrange seminars symposium and functions and speakers will highlight the role of the rural women in development of the country.
According to a report more than one and a half billion rural women are affiliated with the agriculture sector and produce 50 % of the foodstuff. In developing countries 25 % of rural women have no access to education.
