MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan has strongly condemned crackdown on joint resistance leaders and political workers by Indian authorities in Occupied Kashmir ahead of so-called local bodies polls.
“Fresh wave of siege and search operation and detention of pro- freedom leaders especially in urban and rural areas in northern parts of IOK is cause of serious concern,” AJK President said on Friday while reacting over the coordinated crackdown in Occupied Valley by Indian authorities.
Terming Kashmir as internationally disputed territory where people have yet to decide their future through fair and free plebiscite, President said that no election of any kind could be substitute to the plebiscite promised to the people of Kashmir by India and world community.
He called upon the international community and global Human Rights bodies to take notice of the Indian repression against the innocent Kashmiris. He went on to say that elections across the democratic world are held to choose public representatives for serving the people but in Indian democracy especially in Kashmir election are thrusted upon the people to bring more miseries to them.
He said that India wants to make the world believe that situation in occupied Kashmir is normal by holding farcical election in the territory under its occupation and added that determined people would not let India to materialize her nefarious designs.
President Masood said that Indian ploy to befool the world are destined to fail as people of Kashmir have no interest in election drama being orchestrated by India with ill-motives. “India in the past had miserably failed to deter the Kashmiris from pursuing their much-cherished goal of right to self-determination despite using all types of brutal tactics and she is bound to fail in future too,” he maintained.
Justifying Kashmiri peoples’ opposition to the elections, President Masood said India always tried to mislead the international community by portraying people’s participation in such elections as a verdict in its favour.
Denouncing extension of the judicial remand of three ailing Kashmiri women leaders, Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi, presently lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar jail and arrest of freedom leader Yasin Malik, President Khan said entire occupied territory has been turned into a police state.
