Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) Adding yet another feather to its cap the Special Communication Organization (SCO) on Thursday launched mobile service in Askole of Shigar Valley in Gilgit Baltistan to facilitate the people of the areas.
Askole of Shigar Valley is located in a remote region of the Karakoram Mountains at a height of 10,000 ft. The valley is the final settlement before one enters the wilderness of the Karakorum and acts as base camp to four of the world’s 14 highest peaks including that of K-2. The area was provided mobile service by Special Communication Organization. A large no of local people were present in Askole at the commencement of SCOM service
“Setting up of mobile service in Askole, is an honor for us to serve the un-served areas no matter what efforts are required”, said Major General Ali Farhan HI(M) while inaugurating the service. He reiterated that we shall make all out efforts to support tourism by reaching all the remote areas of the region.
