Karachi: In an encounter with police in Lyari, Karachi the most wanted accused of gang war Ghaffar Zikri, his 3 year old son whom he used as shield and accomplice Chhota Zahid have been killed and a Sub-Inspector and police official have been injured.
According to DIG South Javed Alam in the Ali Mohammad Mohallah of Lyari on a tip off police and law enforcing agencies launched a search operation and in retaliation the accused opened fire on the raiding groups. However the encounter which lasted one and a half hour Ghaffar Zikri, his son and accomplice Chhota Zahid have been killed and police SI and official injured who have been shifted to hospital and their condition is out of danger. Police have also arrested two of their alleged accomplices.
According to police a huge cache of arms and ammunition including sub machine guns (SMG), hand grenades, dozens of cartridges and several magazines have been recovered from their possession. More than 15 mobiles have taken part in the encounter against Ghaffar Zikri.
Later on police have launched a search operation in different areas of Lyari.
Cases of serious nature such as murder, attempted murder, kidnapping for ransom and extortions have been registered against Ghaffar Zikri in Lyari, Old City area, Maripur and several police stations of Baldia.
Ghaffar Zakri became part of gang war in 2000 and in 2010 after differences with Uzair Baloch group he formed his own group. Zakri group used to launch hand grenade attacks against rival group.
In the notorious history of Lyari gang war after Rahman Dacoit, Uzair Baloch, Arshad Papu and Baba Ladla, Ghaffar Zikri played a vital role who disappeared following the Karachi operation. Ghaffar Zikri had Rs 3 million head money.
