ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) The federal government and AJK government are taking tangible measures for the promotion of tourism in the country.
A high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan was held at Banigala on Monday which was also attend by AJK Minister for Information Tourism and IT Mushtaq Minhas.
While talking to media after the meeting Minhas said that government of Pakistan has decided to formulate a comprehensive strategy for promotion of tourism in the country for which a task force is also being set up. He said federal government intends to monitor the activities of tourism sector itself.
The Minister told that all the stake holders would give their suggestions within a week. He said there is enormous potential of exploiting tourism sector and a solid strategy would be evolved in consultation and suggestions of professionals of all the four provinces, AJK and Gilgit Baltistan.
Minhas disclosed that all the representatives of task force of Prime Minister Khan have been directed to identify new tourism centers in their respective provinces, AJK and Gilgit Baltistan. He said the concerned departments of four provinces, AJK and G&B would evolve time frame for set targets and comprehensive plan, keeping in view of TORs within a week. “All the impediments in way of tourism would be identified to enable federal government to help seek a feasible removal of these obstacles” he said.
The Minister said Mr. Khan assured that his government would do all to remove hindrances for promotion of this important sector. He said special attention was paid in the meeting for promotion of Eco tourism, religious tourism, adventure tourism and setting up of tourist resorts to earn more and more foreign exchange.
He said exploiting of vast potential of tourism in Neelum Valley, Jhelum valley and Poonch in AJK, northern areas, coastal areas, religious places, historic areas like Mohenjodaro could not only help bring about economic revolution but also overcome the issue of unemployment in the country. He said strategy would also be evolved to use modern technology especially social media for the swift promotion of tourism in the country
