MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The AJK Secretary Education Schools Raja Amjad Pervaiz Ali Khan says that Waseela-e-Taleem Programme of BISP provides primary education to the children of downtrodden and underprivileged sections of society in AJK.
He expressed these views at 6th regional coordination committee meeting of BISP Waseela-e-Taleem and other stakeholders meeting here on Thursday. The Secretary said the secret of development of nation lies in education. There is no other way of development and prosperity than investment in human development through education, he observed. Eulogizing the efforts of BISP Waseela-e-Taleem Programme and NRSP for enrolling 49,500 poor children in schools he said both the organizations were doing a remarkable job for poor and destitute children in AJK. He assured that education department would utilize all its energies for the success of this programme in the State.
Khan directed his staff to extend all out cooperation to the BISP programme and congratulated the organization for spreading the parameter of its programme to seven districts of AJK.
Giving briefing on the occasion Regional Director BISP AJK Raja Kaleemullah Khan said BISP is the largest social safety network programme of government of Pakistan and helps overcoming the poverty effects through unconditional financial support. He said Pakistan is the only South Asian country that’s efforts were internationally lauded for unconditional financial support. He said 750 rupees are given to each poor child after every three months on condition of 70% presence by Co-responsibility cash transfer (CCT) of BISP under Waseela-e-Taleem (We T) programme. He said under We T 1534 BISP beneficiary committees have been set up which engage the deserving children through conversation and social struggle.
