Karachi: Prime Minister aide for Commerce Razzaq Daud has said that the trade deficit of Pakistan with China is very high and the government is working with Beijing to cap it.
“Our government is aware of the high trade deficit with China. We are working with China to reduce it,” Razzaq said in a meeting with the delegation of Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers on Thursday.
He clarified that his statement on China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) was presented wrongfully.
The delegation expressed their concerns over the government gas policy and said the recent hike in the gas prices could be dangerous for exports. Therefore, the government needs to take immediate measures to decrease the gas as well as water and electricity prices. As such, Pakistan could compete with Bangladesh and India in global markets.
