LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on October 08 in high treason case and issued non bailable arrest warrants of Cyril Almeida besides ordering for placing his name on ECL in this case.
The petition seeking registration of high treason case against Nawaz Sharif and former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi came up for hearing before a 3-member bench of LHC presided over by Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi on Monday.
According to media reports the court has directed Nawaz Sharif to appear before it on October 8 in person.
Naseer Bhutta advocate said that Nawaz Sharif would appear in the court on next hearing. Nawaz Sharif has said that people are visiting him to condole with him over death of his spouse Begum Kalsoom Nawaz and he has requested to fix the date of hearing after “ Chehlum” .
Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi remarked “ it is all right. We will hear the case on October 8.
On the other hand Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has reached Lahore. The court has already issued arrest warrant of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Naseer Bhutta counsel for Abbasi said there would be no absence on the part of his client on next hearing.
Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi remarked “ Yes I am seeing Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is a tall man.
The court has also issued non bailable arrest warrants of Cyril Almeida a and directed DIG Operations to ensure Almeida appearance on next hearing.
