Dr. Rehman called upon the peace loving nations, NGOs and people should pressurize India to stop human right violations. The university faculty and students are very much concerned about the malicious designs of the hardliner Indian ruling BJP and RS Groups to altering the special status and authority of the Jammu and Kashmir state through the ongoing nefarious move of abrogation of article 35-A and 370 of the Indian constitution. He said that the faculty and students are also concerned about the increased human rights’ abuses in the IOK. Particularly, they are very much concerned on loss of education of children due to curfews, siege and disappearances of males of the families. India, he pointed out, was not allowing visits of human rights watch organizations to the IOK including the APKG. “International media is banned and cannot enter in the valley so that the worst kind of human rights violation are not witnessed/ recorded and to hide use of force on innocent armless people of the Jammu and Kashmir, yet the world witnessing the brutalities being purported by the Indian forces. India is failing in its designs and is badly exposed; we should expose it to the world further and consider it as our moral duty and service to humanity MUST, the VC underlined, is known for organizing series of conferences and seminars on Kashmir at different times. He said that the University had earlier organized identical national and international moots on Kashmir to attract the international community towards the urgency of the early peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue, which involve the birth right of self determination of over 14 million people of Jammu & Kashmir, he added.
Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman continued that since the MUST is all out to organize international conferences and seminars on Kashmir to highlight the national Kashmir cause through such august events, the varsity would always welcome the friends of Kashmir groups in British and European Parliaments and NGOs to use platform of the University for holding conferences and seminars on Kashmir. He said that since Kashmir is an issue affecting the life of millions. It needs early solution so that south Asia may progress like other peaceful regions of the world. It is a dispute and India recognizes it. “The disputes harm parties unless they are resolved and that too, to the satisfaction of parties. The Kashmir dispute if remains unsettle will continue eating up people and resources of the poor nations”, he added.
He said that the world including India should realize that the Kashmir dispute has taken the lives of the people of the subcontinent hostage and burden of the Kashmir conflict growing day by day. “Both nations cannot achieve prosperity unless the issue is resolved to the satisfaction of the people of Kashmir. Peace in the region links with the Kashmir issue. The unsettled issue is also threat to the regional and world peace so regional and world powers should also realize the danger it poses to the humanity”, Dr. Habibur Rehman said .Dr. Habib ur Rehman said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were witnessing brutalities at the hands of the Indian occupying forces, inhuman treatment meet by youth, ruthlessly beating young men and women, subjecting innocent people to torturing and brutal killing and dragging bodies on roads are some unprecedented examples of the gross and worst kind of human right violations in Kashmir.I take this opportunity to acclaim the extraordinary contributions of the APKG for the Kashmir cause; particularly their forthcoming report will benefit the freedom movement. We hope that the forthcoming international conference on Kashmir from the platform of the friends of Kashmir group in EU parliament will be successful in promoting the Kashmir cause further. Similarly, planned report on Kashmir from the platform of the Kashmir friends group in EU parliament will serve the purpose.
Elaborating the comparison about the living style of the masses in the bleeding valley of Indian occupied Kashmir and the liberated area of Azad Jammu Kashmir, Dr. Habib ur Rehman said that as compared to the highly miserable life of our brethren in Indian held Jammu Kashmir territory, the people at this side of LoC in AJK were enjoying equal rights and respect; no human right violations, no bans on human right organizations, press and electronic media are allowed to go even on LoC and in institutions.
“Comparison showed that people of AJK are free while people of Indian held Kashmir are subjected to forced occupation and struggling for the realization of their right for self determination as promised by the UN and agreed by the India. Over hundred thousand killed, many thousands disappeared, blinded and dishonored. Therefore, world should take notice of the human right violations in IOK and recognize mass movement for freedom from Indian occupation. We the university faculty and students deeply acknowledge the support of the friends of Kashmir groups in the British and European parliaments. Your visit to the AJK, meeting with Honorable President and PM AJK and other government officials show your deep affection with the people of the Kashmir and it mean a lot to us. I take this opportunity to thank each of the members of the delegation for their contribution towards the realization of the right of self determination of the people of the Jammu and Kashmir.
Respected guests Kashmir is the tragedy, an issue of human crises, therefore, world should realize and support the legitimate struggle of the people of Kashmir for freedom and pressurize India to immediately stop human right violations and enter into serious dialogues with Pakistan to resolve the long standing issue to the satisfaction the people of Jammu and Kashmir.Taking the benefit of the presence of the representatives of the Kashmiri Diaspora in the UK, the VC said that the university has launched its products and invited the Diaspora to contribute in the development of the university through the products. Barrister Imran Hussain, Lord Qurban Hussain and Counselor Kamran Hussain, being sons of the soil are requested to erg the Kashmiri Diaspora of Mirpur origin to contribute in the development of their university.
