ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given time to Attorney General (AG) and finance ministry to file reply till September 24 in connection with appointment of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) president case.
A single bench of IHC presided over by Justice Athar Minallah took up the case for hearing Monday.
At the inception of hearing Faiz Rasool Jillani appeared on behalf of the petitioner and prayed the court that Saeed Ahmad Khan was performing his duties as president NBP under a contract. He did not violate rules and regulations during his service. Neither any charge sheet was framed against him nor was any show cause notice issued to him. Any proceeding against him without hearing him and his suspension be declared illegal, he requested.
He prayed that the notification issued by finance secretary against Saeed Ahmad Khan be suspended.
A representative of NBP filed applications during the course of hearing to become party in the case which was rejected.
The court expressed annoyance and ordered after hearing the arguments of the counsel for the petitioner that finance ministry should file detailed reply within a week and state the reasons for suspending NBP president. In case reply is not filed then finance secretary should appear in the court in person and inform the court in this respect.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till September 24.
