Rawalpindi: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday claimed that the recently held general elections were totally rigged, adding not one but all political parties protecting that rigging.
Shahbaz Sharif further said the country stability is linked with investigation of alleged rigging in the recently held general elections.
Shahbaz also demanded of the government to fix two or three days for meeting with Nawaz Sharif so that PML-N workers from across the country can meet with their leader.
He termed the statement is being associated with Nawaz Sharif false and fabricated. Shahbaz made it clear that Nawaz Sharif’s any statement will be public through PML-N former information minister Maryam Aurangzeb and which will be considered a policy statement.
He expressed these views after meeting with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at Adiala jail, Rawalpindi. Former information minister Maryam Aurangzeb, PML-N senior leader Javed Hashmi and Mehmood Achakzai were also there.
Talking to media, the former chief minister said the recently held general elections are totally rigged, adding the political parties and people have rejected the election results. Shahbaz Sharif said despite the prevailing uncertainty and unrest in the country, Nawaz doesn’t want any anarchic like situation.
He said all those who have won the election or lost are protesting against alleged rigging. He once again demanded investigation of alleged rigging and accountability of the responsible persons.
He said the recent elections witnessed pre and post polls riggings and due to the reason, not only national media but international media also raised figure on the credibility of the poll.
The former chief minister further said to harass PML-N, its leaders were booked and arrested before the Election Day and another leader was convicted at the darkness of night, which never had happened in the past.
But they didn’t lose their hope and went for elections. He said soon after the elections, black money was distributed among the people, adding he cannot spoil his face with such tactics.
Former information minister Maryam Aurangzeb said that PML-N leaders were asked to wait two to three hours on gate, despite Thursday is the meeting days with Nawaz Sharif. She further said the courage and determination of Nawaz and Maryam is increasing with each passing day.
Maryam made it clear that other PML-N leaders’ statements should not be associated with Nawaz Sharif. She said Nawaz Sharif’s health is stable and his ideology getting strength. Maryam maintained that “Respect to Vote” is not a mere slogan but an ideology.
PML-N senior leader Javed Hashmi said Nawaz Sharif’s courage is high, adding that he was in fact consoling the visitors. Hashmi also said that the nation was deceived at the name of elections.
He said rejecting Khawaja Saad Rafiq’s plea of recounting further strengthened their stance of organized rigging. He said no new NRO will surface. Hashmi further said Imran Khan is an agent of establishment and in the queue of establishment his number was last.
Meanwhile, Mehmood Khan Achakzai strongly protested against the jail administration for not allowing meeting with Nawaz Sharif. He has been barred from meeting with the former prime minister which is his legal right, Achakzai said.
He said that Nawaz Sharif fault was to bar other institutions into interfering in government affairs.
Senator Usman Kakar said that he was putting efforts for meeting with Nawaz Sharif for the past two weeks but the jail management didn’t allow him.
He said they are not asking meeting Indian spy agent but a former prime minister.
He said people who visit the jail, could not meet their leader due to shortage of time.
