Back door for admission into private medical colleges will be shut: CJP


LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked back door for seeking admission into private medical colleges will be shut.
He gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench of SC during the course of hearing of admission and charging of additional fee in private medical colleges case Monday.
Director FIA Dr Usman Anwar filed detailed report in the court. He informed the court that Rs 745 million which were collected from the students under the head of additional fee have been taken back and returned to students.
Director FIA said private medical colleges extorted money from the students in the name of donations, foreign quota and additional fee. The data of 23000 students of 100 colleges was collected.
CJP remarked “ private medical colleges will not be allowed at any cost to receive donations. The criterion of central admission policy will be settled. Back door for admission into private medical colleges will be closed. The court will not hesitate if it had to issue any order or it had to get enact legislation in this respect.
The CJP maintained whatever criterion is fixed by PMDC will be got implemented at every cost. Heavy fine will be imposed on colleges which show negligence in this regard.
The court directed PMDC and other respondents to hold meeting and file recommendations before the court.
