Lailat-ul-Qadar is the most blessed night, which according to Hadith could be found in any of the odd-numbered night during the last ten days of Ramadan. It is mostly cited as the night of power, the night in which the Holy Quran, a complete code of conduct for Muslims, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him). The blessed night carries a special significance in the Islamic calendar as it marks the beginning of the revelation of the Holy Quran. According to the Quran and many authentic traditions of the Messenger of Allah (saws), the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet (PBUH) in the Night of Qadr, which is in the month of Ramadan. However, it is most widely believed that the blessed night falls before 27th day of Ramadan dawns. Allah (SWT) had promised an exponential increase in the reward for the believers who worship during this night. In Holy Quran, chapter 97, Allah the almighty says: “Verily, We have sent it (Quran) down in the night of Al-Qadr.” The night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. The Quran while highlighting the importance of the night says worshipping Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months.
According to Bukhari, “Whoever establishes Salah on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, all his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari). Hazrat Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) stated that she asked the Prophet (PBUH) “If I find Lailatul Qadar then what should I do? He (PBUH) said, recite this Dua.”Allah Humma Innaka A’fuvun Tohib Bul A’fva Fa’afu ‘Anni” (Tirmidhi).
Muhmmad the messenger of Allah (Blessings of Allah and peace be on him) had asked the believers to search for the powerful night (Shab-e-Qadr) in the odd numbered nights, during the last ten days of Ramzan. As per the saying the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th or 29th night of Ramadan could most probably be one of the blissful night i.e. Shab-e-Qadr the prophet had referred to.
As the night before 27 Ramadan is widely believed to be Lailatul Qadr, so let us all stretch forth our hands unto God, the almighty, and seek His countless blessings. Let us pray, invoke Allah’s mercy and seek forgiveness from Him as it is the night of peace in which prayers are heard and accepted. It is the night wherein descend the angels and the Spirit, by the leave of their Lord, with every command. There is Peace in it until the rise of dawn. While seeking peace and prosperity for our country let us not forget to pray for our brethren in Occupied Kashmir, Palestine and other parts of the world who are being subjected to worst kind of oppression and suppression. May Allah (SWT) grant them peace and protect them from enemy. May Allah bless us all – accept our prayers and good deeds, forgive our sins, , grant us good health & happiness & success here and the hereafter.
