ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has said what former chief of ISI Asad Durrani has talked about is very important and we should go to the depth of all the things.
He said this in an informal chat with the journalists here Tuesday on the occasion of his appearance in Accountability Court (AC).
Nawaz said Asad Durrani authored a book. Pervez Musharraf and Shahid Aziz also gave statements. Now the need is there that we should go to the bottom of the issue. A National Inquiry Commission (NIC) should be constituted with mutual consultation. This commission should represent parliament, judiciary and civil society as well. Establishment can be part of this commission.
He was of the view there was no use of launching inquiry against one person. Inquiry should be conducted against the entire network. Who framed policies and implemented them should also be seen. The responsibility should not be shifted to one person only.
To a question from a journalist that secretary election commission has said the election can be sabotaged internationally Maryam Nawaz who was present on the occasion said in camera briefing should be taken from secretary election commission.
Regarding designated care taker Prime Minister Justice (Retd) Nasir ul Mulk, Nawaz said his nomination as care taker PM should be appreciated as he has rendered meritorious services as judge and as Chief Justice of Pakistan. He is an exemplary person. No one has ever raised finger on him and he is acceptable to all.
About nomination of caretaker chief minister Punjab he said Shahbaz Sharif consulted him on this count. Politicians are not so narrow minded that they should drop the name of Nasir Khosa merely being brother of Justice Asif Khosa. He is man of good credibility and he has remained my principal secretary. His name as care taker CM came from PTI side.
