AC summons ex army officers , others in Royal Palm case

Islamabad: An accountability court in Islamabad on Saturday summoned Lieutenant General (retd) Javed Ashraf Qazi and eight others for illegally awarding of lease of Railway Golf Club, Lahore.
The court has directed them to appear before the court on May 27. Lt Gen (retd) Qazi has served as former secretary Railway and as a federal minister for communication and Railways.
Former Railway officers had filed complaints in anti-graft body against them, adding the illegal lease thus caused a loss of over Rs2 billion to the National Exchequer.
Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed references against Lieutenant General (retd) Javed Ashraf Qazi, Lieutenant General (retd) Saeed-uz-Zaman Maj Gen (retd) Hamid Hassan Butt a, Iqbal Samad Khan, Khurshid Ahmed Khan, Bridger (retd) Akhtar Ali, Abdul Ghaffar, Ramzan Sheikh, Pervaiz Qureshi, sponsors of Royal Palm Golf Club and others officers, involved in illegal award of lease of railway golf club, Lahore.
Islamabad Accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir Khan on Saturday issued notices.
