ISLAMABAD: (parliament Times) President of Commission of inquiry on enforced disappearances Justice, (Retired) Javed Iqbal on Monday chaired a meeting at Islamabad in which progress on the cases of alleged enforced disappearances as on April 30, 2018 since inception of commission of inquiry on enforced disappearances were reviewed. It was told that due to the efforts of Commission of inquiry on enforced disappearances out of 4929 cases, 3269 cases were disposed off upto April 30, 2018. During the month of April 30, 2018, 50 cases were disposed off. The balance of enforced disappearances as on April 30, 2018 is of 1822 number. Honorable Justice, Mr. Javed Iqbal, President of Commission of inquiry on enforced disappearances held 237 proceedings in Islamabad and 168 proceedings in Karachi and total 405 proceeding were held during April 2018.
The Commission of inquiry on enforced disappearances has categorically denied handing over of 4,000 Pakistanis to foreign countries. The Chairman of inquiry on enforced disappearances was referring to a news item published in a section of media in 2007 which was absolutely baseless and having no reality at all.
