MUZAFFARABAD: Jammu & Kashmir People’s Freedom League (JKPFL) on Saturday held a peaceful protest demonstration at main Secretariat Road demanding justice for the eight-year-old minor who was raped and murdered in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Holding placards and banners inscribed with anti India slogans, the participants of the rally marched from Central Press Club to Burhan Wani Chowk near Domel. The protesters raised vociferous slogans against India and accused BJP backed administration in Jammu of trying to play down the rape and murder case of Asifa to save the culprits.
The protesters also demanded withdrawal of troops from Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.
Chairman JKPFL Muhammad Farooq Rehmani addressing the rally urged UN Secretary General to play his role for peaceful settlement of Kashmir dispute in line with the UN resolutions and exert pressure on India to bring culprits involved in Kathua rape and murder case to justice.
Rehmani asserted that Kashmiri’s mass intifada has entered into a decisive phase and it is now moral responsibility of justice loving nations including Pakistan to activate world forums for a lasting solution of this vexed issue.
“Children and women are abducted, raped and killed and youths are blinded with pellet guns in a bid to silence the voices of freedom. The latest incident of Asifa Bano in Kathua Jammu brought to fore an ugly truth of present day Kashmir,” Rehmani lamented.
He called upon European Union (EU), Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other world bodies to take notice of Indian state terrorism in Kashmir where eight years old girl was not spared and school going children are being targeted to quell the freedom struggle.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) AJK Vice President Khawaja Farooq Ahmad said that if North and South Korean leaders can sit together to discuss their issues and why leaders of Kashmir are not allowed to meet each other.
“ It is time for the world community to come forward and put pressure on India to settle Kashmir dispute as per the wishes of the people of Kashmiris to bring peace and security in the region,” PTI leader Ahmad added.
Girls student of different schools also joined the protest to seek justice for Asifa and other school going children of IOK who have been made blind through pellet guns.
