    Rafiullah Mandokhail;

    ZHOB: Four including two women of the same family have lost their lives, while twelve including children have been injured in a head-on collision between two vehicles on Zhob-Quetta highway near Killa Sherak area here.

    According to sources, four including two women and a driver died in a collision between a fast moving passenger flying-coach and a Probox car near Killa Sherak area of Zhob on Quetta national highway. A mazda truck is also involved in the accident. Two women and the driver of the same family died instantly, when the passenger coach and the car collided head-on on the highway.

    The passenger coach was coming to Zhob city while the car was heading to Quetta.

    Medical Superintendent at District Headquarters civil hospital Dr. Akhter Mandokhail said the dead and the injured have been rushed to civil hospital and combined military hospital Zhob. He said the condition of some injured is stated to be critical and they have been referred to provincial capital Quetta for treatment. Two women, driver Faizullah and FC Hawaldar Nazir are among the dead.

    Balochistan has a poor road safety record with irresponsible and reckless driving, dilapidated roads and speeding vehicles are among the contributing factors. Hundreds of people lost their lives annually on Zhob-Quetta highway. But no steps have been taken so for to make the highway safer and decrease the casualties due to the negligence of authorities. Although the national highway authority is responsible for regulating traffic on highways through effective policing and also responsible for developing mechanisms to ensure compliance with road safety mechanisms. However it is completely failed due to its negligible presence to do the job properly in the area.
