Islamabad: A special lecture on interfaith harmony was held at Preston University, Islamabad. Dr. Sayed Moustafa Al Qazwini, founding Imam of the Islamic Educational Center of Orange County and President of the Muslim Council of Southern California, USA was the distinguished guest speaker on the occasion. Eminent educationists, intellectuals, scholars, diplomats and senior faculty and students of Preston University participated in the program. Prominent among the other speakers who spoke on the occasion were eminent scholar Agha Ali Yahya, Ms. Maureen Mimnaugh, Cultural Attaché’ US Embassy and Dr. Ghazanfer Mehdi, Chairman Archaeological and Historical Association of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, the keynote speaker distinguished Dr. Sayed Moustafa Al Qazwini, founding Imam of the Islamic Educational Center of Orange County and President of the Muslim Council of Southern California, USA said Islam is a religion of peace and brotherhood and is indispensable for creation of harmony among different religions and sects of the world. Dr. Qazwini said Pakistan is one of the most beautiful countries of the world. People of this part of the globe are very able and industrious and are endowed with abundant natural resources. He said it is extremely important that sincere endeavors are made to create harmony among different sects and religion, particularly the Shia and Sunni community in this country, if peace is to be established and people are to be provided the opportunity to reap the benefits of economic progress and prosperity. Dr. Qazwini said in America people belonging to all religions of the world live. They are incessantly engaged in interacting with each other and making honest efforts to better appreciate each other’s religion and culture. This is what has made the American society a tolerable society, where people live in harmony and respect each other regardless of caste, creed and religion, he stated. Dr. Moustafa Al Qazwini said we should make concerted efforts to spread the message of Islam world over through love and respect. Islam, he said, is a religion that propagates love, peace, respect and tolerance, and every possible endeavor must be made by us as Muslims to project this true image of Islam across the globe.
Earlier, eminent scholar Dr. Agha Ali Yahya introduced the distinguished guest speaker Dr. Moustafa Al Qazwini to the audience. The American Cultural Attaché, Ms. Maureen Mimnaugh and Dr. Ghazanfer Mehdi, Chairman Archaeological and Historical Association of Pakistan also briefly spoke on the subject.
In his vote of thanks Prof. Dr. Allah Wadhayo Baloch, Registrar Preston University thanked the distinguished guest speaker for his enlightening and thought provoking lecture on interfaith harmony. Later, he presented shields of the university to the keynote speaker, Dr. Sayed Moustafa Al Qazwini and the other speakers who spoke on the occasion.
