Karachi: Foreign interference in our internal matters is highly
regrettable and no dictation would be acceptable in the issues like
caretaker setup and coming general elections, said Pasban e Pakistan
President Altaf Shakoor here Saturday.
In a statement, he said that the nomination of the caretaker government
should be finalized, keeping in mind our own national interests. He said
the provincial caretaker governments should also be made under the same
principle. He said instead of making some present or former employee of the
institutions like the IMF our caretaker prime minister, this important slot
should be filled from our own honest, capable and patriotic leadership, who
can conduct the coming general elections in a free and fair manner.
He said the media reports about alleged dictation of a US diplomat Ms Allis
Wells to Pakistani establishment are highly regrettable.
Altaf Shakoor said that the foreign conspiracies to maneuver the coming
general elections should be foiled at all costs. He said the contradictions
in the US policy have been fully exposed now. He said on the one hand the
US is condemning alleged Russian hidden hand in previous US elections but
on the other hand the US herself is trying to influence the election
processes in other countries, particularly Pakistan.
He said as now the Pakistani national interests are not synchronized with
the American interests, we should tailor our own national policies, free
from any foreign meddling. He stressed the need of carrying on an
independent foreign policy and safeguarding our national interests
including the CPEC.Shakoor said that all political parties should come to the same page to
safeguard our national interests. He said the agents of foreign entities
like IMF should be rejected. He said we cannot tolerate another Moin
Qureshi, or people like him. He said such dual nationals are loyal to their
bosses and paymasters, and they cannot do any good for Pakistan. He said
the establishment should take brave decisions, adding if it acted like a
rubber stamp on the issue of caretaker prime minister the nation would not
forgive it. He said the country needs a patriotic caretaker prime minister who could
discharge his duties as per the law and constitution, to hold free and fair
elections and not to put the national interests in jeopardy.
