Dera Ghazi Khan : Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday said that Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani should take oath that he wasn’t involved in horse-trading likewise the senators.
The prime minister said that he didn’t engage himself in horse-trading for the Senate seats and would fight against this menace till its conclusion.
How can a corrupt body work for the well-being of the country? Abbasi asked. Khaqan Abbasi said political decisions usually come from polling stations, not from courts, hopping that people would take revenge of removing an elected government in the forthcoming elections.
Directing to the people of Pakistan, the prime minister said our competition is with ‘fake politics and politicians’. He expressed these views while addressing a gathering in Dera Ghazi Khan on Saturday.
Abbasi said power stations, roads, schools and hospitals are being constructed throughout the country, adding no government in the past paid heed in resolving these long-standing basic problems.
Talking about Nawaz Sharif’s vision of the development, Abbasi said that all these developments were made by former prime minister. He said that the PML-N political opponents were also convinced for the development agenda of the former prime minister.
Abbasi said it has become a trend in this country that those who work for the well-being of the people have being removed from the hearts of people by using insulting means.
The prime minister said that political decisions should be taken at polling stations, not in courts, adding that we should let public to decide this country’s future through their vote. He maintained that the public never take wrong decisions but courts take ‘controversial decisions’ which later become part of the history.
He said that we would have to understand that in a country where public don not trust in politics, can never be made progress.
The prime minster said today we are talking about inflation and development and when there would be no trust in politics then how the country will make progress and will overcome inflation.
Abbasi said there was dictatorship ruling the country before 2008. Then the put trust in the leadership Asif Ali Zardari’s and elected the PPP to rule the country. But everyone knows what Zardari did.
He said if you make a comparison of the country development before and after 2013 general elections, a visible difference can be observed.
The government cannot attain 15 years achievements in just five years, but still, our government achieved a lot for the economic development of the country, Abbasi maintained.
He informed the gathering that the country’s 3 per cent development index would cross the figure of 6 per cent by next year.
The prime minister said that we had brought the CPEC in the country, hopping that the flagship project will help to create job opportunities in the country. He said if the public poll for corrupt politicians in the forthcoming general elections, remember these politicians will only fill their own pockets and the country will in crisis again.
Abbasi said that the government had overcome the gas crisis of over 20 years in just five years, adding that over 50 per cent gas consumers had been provided connections.
He informed over 200 billion gas projects are in progress, adding Nawaz Sharif started all those projects during his tenure.
He said the country’s first 500 kilometers motorways project was constructed by Nawaz Sharif and the recent 1,700 kilometer motorways project is also on the credit of the former prime minister. That is the real difference between an undemocratic and a democratic government, he said.
Refereeing the performance of Shahbaz Sharif, Abbasi said no chief minister can compete with the development agenda the Punjab chief minister. He said Shahbaz Sharif solves people problems.
He made it clear that if we didn’t resist wrong decisions the nation will forget making progress.
