ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has summoned local MNA, MPA and chairman Municipal Committee in suo motu notice of funeral procession passing through sewerage case at Hujra Shah Muqeem Okara.
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday took up for hearing case pertaining to passing of funeral procession through sewerage.
Additional Attorney General (AAG) told the court the councillor of the area to which picture related to has come.
CJP remarked “ you have seen what is going on in your area. The local government has to work for the welfare of the people. The clothes of those who were participating in funeral procession became impure due to filth.;
Councilor Hujra Shah Muqeem Nayab Kashif fold the court “ we also participated in this funeral procession. Park of Hujra Shah Muqeem is being turned into plots and these plots are being sold out. Municipal committee chairman has occupied the “ Janazgah”.
On being inquired from CJP, the councilor told the court Rao Ajmal is MNA and Raza Gilani is MPA in Hujra Shah Muqeem. They are both affiliated with PML-N. Municipal committee chairman is close relative of MPA. The population of the area is 76000 and government provides R s 1.5 million per month to Municipal committee.
The court directed that the local councilor should file the complaint in writing within a week.
The court while summoning MNA, Rao Ajmal, MPA Raza Ali Gillani and municipal committee chairman Zulfiqar Shah has adjourned the hearing of the case.
