Karachi: Governor Sindh Mohammad Zubair has said that the government has launched the national narrative “Paigham-e-Pakistan”, which is aimed at rejecting terrorism, extremism, sectarian hatred and use of force to impose self-styled Sharia’h in the country.
“A peaceful Pakistan is in the only narrative,” said Governor Sindh, while addressing the launch of national narrative ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan’ here at the Governor House Karachi on Tuesday.
“Pakistan is a functioning democracy where all religions are independent and allowed to celebrate their festivals,” Zubair added
He said that nation was extremely serious on the issue and would be successful in achieving its objectives through unity .
“Never go for the violence and bloodshed because it is not the solution,” he stated, the behavior of non-tolerance causes disorder in the society.
Zubair said it was imperative that religious scholars, intellectuals and all institutions of the state must be watchful and apart from individual efforts, must collectively work with mutual harmony to safeguard the nation against division. .
“Islam is meant for peace, and respect. Our religion has given very clear orders for humanity,” he maintained.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that national interest was essential for a legitimate nation adding that he was feeling proud to be part of ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan’ narrative (fatwa)s signed by over 1,800 religious scholars from different schools of thought against the use of violence, including suicide bombings, for religious purposes.
“Sindh is the land of saints which has always given the lesson of love,” he observed.
“In the light of Islamic teachings ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan’ will be our shelter against terrorism and extremism”, he said adding that extremists were trying to misguide the young minds on so-called religious grounds.
Chairman moon-sighting committee, Mufti Munibur Rehman, while condemning terrorism, sectarianism and extremism, praised efforts from the government and other segments of the society to counter the menace.
He called National narrative ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan’ need of the hour’ and said it would play an important role in portraying a soft and positive image of Pakistan across the globe.
Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly and a Pakistan People’s Party leader Shehla Raza said that only educated women could ensure progress of the society .
Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Mukhtar Ahmed said that according to Islamic teachings, extremism, bloodshed and suicide-bombing were categorized as spreading evil on earth (Fasaad-fil-Ard), which was categorically prohibited and unjustified.
“Terrorism has destroyed economy and spreading poverty and ignorance, so it is the responsibility of the scholars to stand against this menace,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai Rector International Islamic University Islamabad informed that Imam-e-Kaaba Dr Saleh Bin Mohammad Al Talib has also endorsed the religious decree, condemning extremism and declaring suicide bombings un-Islamic.
