LAHORE: World Consumer Rights Day is being observed on Thursday to raise awareness about consumer rights and needs.
Celebrating the day is a chance to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected, and to protest against market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights.
In a statement on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said it is the responsibility of the government to safeguard the rights of the consumers under the constitution.
He said consumer courts have been set up in different districts of Punjab under Consumers Protection Act to facilitate the citizens.
