Islamabad: The National Economic Council meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi here on Wednesday.
Chief Ministers of Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and Baluchistan including Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and other pertinent officers attended the economic council meeting.
In the meeting, The National Economic Council on the proposed suggestion by the Prime Minister AJK Raja Mohammad Farooq Haider Khan has increased the limit of development schemes in Azad Jammu and Kashmir from Rs. 400 million to Rs. 1 billion and the development schemes of Azad Kashmir’s Development Working Party (AJK DWP) has been approved from 100 million to 400 million rupees.
This increase has been made for the first time since after 2008, while the extent of approvals of development projects for Gilgit-Baltistan and FATA on the suggestions of Prime Minister Azad Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan has been increased.
In the meeting of the Economic Council, Prime Minister AJK Raja Farooq Haider Khan proposed the extension of approval in the Development Cabinet Committee for Azad Kashmir Cabinet Development Committee and Development Working Party, on which the Council has approved the increments for the said committee and DWP.
According to the press release, the increase in the development plan of the Cabinet Development Committee will start the new era of development in the state and the government can now approve up to Rs. 1 billion instead of 400 million.
This initiative will accelerate the construction and development projects in AJK, Moreover, mega projects will be completed in time.
