ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked gutka and paan supari are injurious to human health.
CJP gave these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench of SC during the course of hearing of case pertaining to gutka and paan supari here Monday.
The counsel for the petitioner said during the course of hearing of the case that he was not advocating any gutka seller. Our products are registered.
Justice Umar Atta Bandial remarked there is no tobacco in paan masala.
The CJP remarked “ supari and gutka are injurious to health. You know how much court is serious about health issues. You can not imagine that court is viewing the health issues how much seriously.
The court admitted for preliminary hearing the petitions filed by private tobacco company and issued notices to the respondents.
The petitioner requested the court to give date for hearing the case.
The CJP remarked case will be heard after six months.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
Rathore Paan Masala company had filed petition in SC against high court decision. The court has admitted this petition for hearing.
