ISLAMABAD: Law Minister Mahmood Bashir Virk has said that the Election Commission of Pakistan is preparing software enabling overseas Pakistanis to cast their vote.
Responding to motion moved by Azam Khan Swati regarding steps taken so far by the government to grant the right of vote to overseas Pakistanis, he said that the commission is working on this project in light of Supreme Court’s directions and the software will be ready next month.
The House today passed “The National Civic Education Commission, Bill 2017.” The government did not oppose the bill.
The bill is aimed at promoting civic education and creating awareness relating to fundamental rights and obligations of citizens.
Responding to a motion moved by Sherry Rehman, Minister of State for Finance Rana Muhammad Afzal said government has successfully kept the inflation rate below four percent.
He said that stocks of food entities like wheat and sugar are sufficient in the country. He said the incumbent government has also doubled the foreign exchange reserves than it had inherited in 2013.
Rana Muhammad Afzal has said that the government is pursuing a responsible policy as all the foreign debts have gone to various projects.
He rejected the impression that domestic debt has gone beyond the permitted limits. He said that domestic debt should be within 60 percent of GDP as mentioned in the Debt Limitation and Restrictions Act. He said that domestic debt on year on year basis has reduced during PML-N’s current tenure.
