MIRPUR (AJK):(Parliament Times) Veteran Pakistan-origin British writer – Director of Asian Paficic Writers and Translators Trustee of Manchester, Mrs. Qaisera Shiraz has termed the early peaceful settlement of Kashmir as key to the everlasting peace in South East Asia.
Mrs. Shiraz, author of series of books, is currently on a trip to Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir to share knowledge in various universities, both in private and public sectors, was talking to this Correspondent here on Saturday after delivering a detailed lecture in the state-run Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) on boosting the literary and writing skills – on the invitation of Vice Chancellor of the MUST Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman (Sitara –e- Imtiaz).
Qaisra emphasized that the international community should move ahead to ensure its due role for the sake of emergence of peace in the region but the world over in general through ensuring the early peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue under the spirit of the international norms and commitments. She observed that conflict in any part of the world ultimately leaves negative impacts and threats to the humanity . “So it is enjoined upon the global community to be involved for ensuring emergence of peace in the conflict zones the world over including the Himalayan state of Jammu & Kashmir”, she suggested.
To a question about the personality of AJK President of Sardar Masood Khan, the British Pakistani writer said “President Masood ids a man of high intellect, caliber, international statesman who has excellent vision, drive, dedication to support and achieve Kashmiris ultimate goal for right of self determination.
To another question about the objectives of her visit to various universities of Pakistan and AJK, the legendary writer said it was primarily to share and exchange knowledge with the academicians and the students particularly the women folk – since education is imperative for women for promoting tolerance, discourageing extremism, besides boosting respect for all other faiths and culture.
Qaisra Shiraz underlined that she visited in AJK, she visited state-run AJK University in Muzaffarabad, Women university in Bagh and Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) besides delivering lectures on objective literature on Karachi festival besides visiting varsities in Lahore.
To a question about rapid decline in trend of book reading, Qaiser Shiraz , also Co Chair of Multi-faith Center of Faith for Manchester, said that social media led to the destruction of the book reading trend.
She called for launching of classes in the universities in Pakistan and AJK exclusively for exploring and boosting the writing skills of the intending writers. “The spirit of confidence is primarily imperative for writing coupled with due knowledge of the concerned topics”, she added.
In her message to the intending writers especially the youth, Qaisra said “don’t’ be afraid while inking their intellect and write down with full confidence”.She described her visit to MUST varsity in Mirpur, besides the women university in Bagh positive. She observed that under the dynamic leadership of the seasoned academician and a man of exceptional high intellect Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman, Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) is not less than a world-class university of any developed country. “I am so impressed of the high quality education, the MUST is delivering in over 22 disciplines, of science, engineering, social sciences and arts harmonious to the need of the modern regime”, Qaisra said and added that the MUST achieved laurels in the delivery of quality education under the guidance and leadership of the Chancellor / AJK President Sardar Masood Khan and the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman.
Earlier, Mrs. Qaisra Shiraz delivered a detailed lecture to the students and the academic staff at the city campus of the MUST sharing ideas over the objectives of writing the series of books particularly on women. The most popular and marvelous pieces of her intellect included ‘The Holy Woman’ and the Novel ‘Typhoon’.Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman, Coordinator Bhimber Campus MUST Prof. Mrs. Nasim Akhter, Dean of Arts Dr. Maqsood Ahmed, Director MUST Business School Prof. Dr. Khaleeque Ahmed, Prof. Dr. Altaf of bio technology, Chairperson Math Dept. Prof. Dr. Rashida and others thanked Mrs. Qaisra Shiraz for visiting the varsity to share her high intellect and pen with the students and the academicians. They said that her visit to the MUST and other varsities in AJK will, indeed, will prove to be a great essence for boosting the literary skills of both the students and the teachers.
