Indian ceasefire violations are detrimental to peace, however, these or any Indian misadventure shall be responded effectively, the army reiterated. The 208th Corps Commander’s Conference was held at the General Headquarters and chaired by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa. The forum reviewed the geo-strategic and security environment especially in the context of US security-related policies for the region. India’s ceasefire violations were a vital part of the discussion and it was discussed that national interest shall be kept at a premium while cooperating with all other stakeholders for regional peace and stability. The forum reiterated that gains of years long counterterrorism efforts shall be consolidated to achieve enduring peace and stability both for Pakistan and the region. In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 190 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary to date, resulting in the deaths of 13 innocent civilians and injuries to 65 others, according to the latest foreign ministry data. It said the unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India had been continuing since the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1,970 ceasefire violations. Pakistan has repeatedly condemned ceasefire violations by Indian forces due to which, several civilians lose their lives every day. However, the violation of the truce has still been continuing. International community should take strong notice of Indian’s spoiler role in the region. The deliberate targeting of civilians is deplorable and it is against international human rights laws. The ceasefire violations by India are also a threat to regional peace. India is constantly increasing tensions at Line of Control and working boundary. Indian must stop ceasefire violations and respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement. Top security huddle has once again reiterated its resolve to effectively respond any misadventure and sent strong message to India. It has rightly urged that gains of counterterrorism efforts shall be consolidated to achieve enduring peace and stability both for Pakistan and the region.India must end its hostile attitude and initiate concrete dialogue with Pakistan to resolve all outstanding issues including Kashmir. Large number of Indian population is facing abject poverty and India should pay attention to address this problem instead of indulging in arms race.
