FAISALABAD: Allocation of funds worth1.597 billion rupees will be spent on 1299 development schemes at Union Councils and Wards level in the four districts of Faisalabad division under Punjab Local Govt. Development Package is a positive development, which will be instrumental in providing the provision of better facilities to common masses in the area. This was stated by Vice Chairman MC Chiniot Haji Muhammad Zahid; District Vice Chairman Sardar Zulfiqar Haider Shah; MC Chairman Chenab Nagar Sardar Zada Syed Hussain Abbas; MC Chairman Tesil Lalian Ch. Abdul Ghaffar Jutt during an exclusive panel interview with Daily Parliament Times here on Monday.
Regarding the pace of work on different development schemes under Local Govt. Development Package, Vice Chairman MC Chiniot Haji Muhammad Zahid further told this correspondent that 477 schemes including the construction of streets, drainage system, rehabilitation of parks, provision of street lights and other basic facilities would be completed at a cost of Rs.926 million in Faisalabad district while funds of Rs.282 million would be spent on the completion of 335 schemes in Jhang district. “Similarly a fund of Rs.251 million has been earmarked for the completion of 203 development schemes in Toba Tek Singh and funds of Rs.138.500 million would be utilized to carry out the 284 uplift schemes in district Chiniot under this development package”, he added.
District Vice Chairman Chiniot Sardar Zulfiqar Haider Shah pointed out that there was dire need of reconstruction of double roads towards Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha and Pindi Bhattian in order to avoid dangerous accidents. “CM Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif should observe the dilapidated condition of these roads so as to facilitate heavy traffic. There is also need to appoint more traffic staff to control the massive traffic flux in all directions of Chiniot”, he said adding that it needs special allocation of funds for widening of double roads.
“Chiniot City provides maximum taxes through stone crushing and heavy transport vehicles pass via this district on daily basis, he further said.
Haji Muhammad Zahid further said, “There is the biggest stone crushing market of Asia near Chiniot, which needs double roads for heavy transport vehicles”. He said “Corruption free institutions and organizations can create real democracy “.
Everything he said was out of line due to corruption and miss-management saying that “Non-implementation of law has increased corruption in the society”
Haji Zahid showed dissatisfaction over shortfall of sanitary staff saying that fresh staff should be appointed forthwith.
Regarding the pace of work in the development schemes, Chairman MC Chenab Nagar Sardar Zada Syed Hussain Abbas appreciated the good work of Punjab govt. and particularly CM Punjab Mian M. Shahbaz Sharif.
He said that these schemes should be completed as soon as possible and we want a corruption free state to restore the faith of the masses.
Chairman MC Lalian Ch. Abdul Gaffar Jutt said with great expectations that transparent utilization of funds and quality standard construction of the projects should be ensured.
MC Chairman Chenab Nagar further emphasized on the progress of launching 2nd phase of Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Dehat Programme should also be reviewed. He stressed the need for swift departmental action regarding initiation of cleanliness system in the rural areas to bring them at par with urban areas.
