MIRPUR (AJK): Describing the Human Resource Development (HRD) as the key to the national prosperity, Vice Chancellor of the state-run Mirpur University of Science & Technology Prof. Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman has said that continuation of professional development is imperative for growth of individuals and institutions.
He was addressing the visiting delegation of the 34th-Master Trainer-Faculty Professional Development Program (MT-FPDP) Team, led by Fida Hussain, Director General, Learning Innovation Division (LID), and Higher Education Commission (HEC) at the city campus of the MUST here today.
“The successes of the HEC and universities may be attributed to the continuous training of the faculty members and administrative staff of the universities”, he maintained.
The HEC, Dr. Habib ur Rehman said, has played a key role in bringing the Higher education sector in the country to this level. We acknowledge the contributions of the HEC in making the public sector universities better than they were twenty year before. The nation witnessed a sea change in the state of higher education; HRD, Research grants, research outputs, quality of education, infrastructure development, scholarships for higher studies, students enrollment, increase in the number of institution of Higher learning, recurring and development budget of the universities, the Vice Chancellor admitted. We also acknowledge the support of the HEC in the development of the public sector universities in the AJK.
The visitors were briefed about the curricular and co curricular activities of the varsity in the Electrical Conference Hall, City Campus. Dean, Engineering and Technology, Dr. Anwar Khitab, Registrar of the university Engr. Muhammad Waris, Treasurer, Zafar Iqbal, Engr. Muhammad Shabbir Mirza, Chairman Department of Power Engineering and faculty members were also present on this occasion.
Particularly, the support of the HEC for the MUST is deeply acknowledged, whatever we achieved in the recent past was due to the support and guidance of the HEC. The relationship of the universities and the HEC is based on mutual respect and acceptance; both are interdependent and both accept their role. This is why the HEC glorified and the universities have been developing. The Vice Chancellor lauded the contributions of Fida Hussain, DG LID, for organizing and providing form “Master Trainer-Faculty Professional Development Program (MT-FPDP)” to the lecturers of the different universities of the AJK and Pakistan. I take this opportunity to acknowledge his contributions in the achievements of the HEC and in the progress of the MUST. “I hope he will continued working for the glory of the Higher Education Sector in the country and continue supporting the MUST and extending his guidance for further development and progress of the university”, he added
Addressing the visiting participants, he said that their visit to the MUST, the Mirpur City and Mangla Power House will be rememberable. Particularly, your visit to the Mangla Power House reminds you the contribution of the WAPDA in the national development and the circumstances under which its employees maintaining and running the system is marvelous. I am happy to share that Mr. Tariq Mehmood is our graduate and he earned his position due to his hardworking nature and responsible attitude. We are proud of him.
“We also take pride that 90% officers of WAPDA Rawalpindi through Lahore are our graduates. As such, the MUST has been producing the qualified human resource for the development of the energy sector in the country”, he said. If every one of us wishes to achieve further success in life, they must make their profession their hobby. Continuous learning and hard work will bring laurels for their and the institution they are associated with, he added.
The training you have received will make your further productive and beneficial for your institution, family and the society at large, he hoped. Your visit to this university set a beginning of our relationship, hope it will strengthen further to our mutual benefit. Dr. Rehman thanked Tariq Mehmood, Director Mangla Power House for the briefing and visit of the facilities. “We gratefully acknowledge contribution of his team in maintaining and running the system”, he added.
He lauded the Vice Chancellor and his team for developing the MUST to this level. We have been witnessed ‘fast track’ development of the university. The vision and efforts of the Vice Chancellor made the MUST the best university of the country, he admitted. The HEC pride in the development and achievements of the MUST and it will continue tis support for further development of the university. The progress of the university and its achievement in a short span of time are unprecedented, he concluded.
