MIRPUR (AJK): Three separate panels Saturday jumped into the arena to contest elections to the office bearers of Kashmir Press Club Mirpur, scheduled to be held on January 31.The candidates belonging to three separate panels led by Raja Sohrab Ahmed Khan (Chief Editor Daily “Kashmir Nama” Mirpur), Syed Abid Hussain Shah (Correspondent of Geo News in Mirpur) and S.A Bhukhari filed their nomination papers for the slot of the President ship besides for other offices of the club for the elections -2018. Election Commissioner for Elections-2018 Arshad Mahmood Butt received the nomination papers at Kashmir Press Club auditorium.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on Monday – Jan 29. The nomination papers could be withdrawn by Jan. 30. Polling to all seven offices of the club will be held on January 31 at the Press Club auditorium, according to the schedule.
The Presidential candidate Sohrab Ahmed Khan (former Secretary General of the Club) enjoys the support and backing of senior journalists and ex Presidents of the club including Altaf Hamid Rao, Hafiz Muhammad Maqsood, Muhammad Amin Butt, Muhammad Ramzan Chughtai and ex Secretary General Khalid Chaudhry and others. Similarly, the other Presidential candidate Syed Abid Hussain Shah (ex President KPC) have the blessing and backing of senior journalists including Zaheer Azam Jiraal, Zaffar Mughal, Muhammad Zafeer Baba, Shehzada Iqbal and others.
