LHC, UK Judiciary signs accord for cooperation


Rawalpindi: An agreement was signed between Lahore High Court and Judiciary of England according to which “Judicial Support Programme” would be launched.
In this regard , a ceremony of exchanging of deed was held in which Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Senior Judge of LHC Justice Mamoon-ur-Rashid, Registrar LHC Syed Khurshid Anwar represented the Lahore High Court, whereas the head of rule of law at British High Commission Susan Loughhead, representative of UKAID Racher Yates and Simon Charters were present from the UK side.
The three year Judicial Support Programme would not only strengthen the ongoing programme “justice for all” started by judiciary of Punjab but also be helpful in introducing judicial reforms, judicial leadership and governance ,case management system, ADR and better use of information technology . The agreement would also bring the close cooperation and exchange of delegations between two sides.
On the occasion Chief Justice LHC justice Mansoor Ali Shah said that the agreement was the result of 12 member delegation of Pakistan’s judiciary visit to England in last November in which the judges took review of British judiciary system.
He said the agreement would help in making judicial system in Punjab strong and both sides would take advantage of each other’s experiences .
