Islamabad : Mayor of Islamabad Sheikh Ansar Aziz while misusing his powers allotted public parks and green belts’ contracts to private partners against Supreme Court (SC), High Court (HC) and Capital Development Authority’s own by-laws.
In line with documents available with “Online” the mayor allotted worth billion of rupees Public Park situated on prime location in Islamabad to Serena Hotel in the name of beautification while a plot situated at the corner of Jinnah Avenue was allotted to Gulf Construction Company also.
Similarly, Sheikh Ansar Aziz violating CDA’s rules and regulations illegally allotted plots to Riphah International University, park tower and Max Health Hospital respectively.
Documents revealed that, SC in its judgment had prevented CDA to allot plots or green belts to any private company and person.
SC had further stated in its rulling that if any private party wants to decorate park then it could not charge any entry fees, construction of cabins or use of bill boards for advertisement.
Earlier, Justice Shaukat Siddique of Islamabad High Court (IHC) during a CDA Parks case had issued orders to CDA’s officials to take back all green belts and plots, allotted to private companies in the name of beautification.
Law wing of CDA had itself informed the former chairman CDA that allotment of Public Park to Serena hotel is against the SC and HC’s orders and termed it as open violation of CDA’s by-laws.
However, Former Chairman CDA Sheikh Ansar Aziz ignoring all objections of Law wing and court’s orders caused billion of rupees losses to national kitty.
When this scribe approached Sheikh Ansar Aziz for the comment he did not attend the call.
If he wants to give his stance in this regard then it will be published.
