Pakistan to co-sponsor resolution at UN today against US move on Jerusalem

NEW YORK: Pakistan will co-sponsor a resolution at the United Nations General Assembly today, calling for withdrawal of US decision to recognize occupied Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Speaking at a meeting of the OIC Ambassadorial Group at the United Nations, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the world body, Maleeha Lodhi reiterated Islamabad’s support to the Palestinian cause and to the defence of al-Quds al Sharif.

She said the US move regarding Jerusalem undermines the international legal system and further destabilizes an already volatile and violent situation in the region.
