Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed on the International Human Rights Day, today. Call for the shutdown and blackout has been given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik against gross human rights violations in Kashmir. “Kashmiris will observe complete shutdown and blackout against gross human rights violations,” the JRL said in a statement issued on Saturday.
The leadership is scheduled to take out a protest rally from Lal Chowk to UN Office at Sonwar in Srinagar, today. However, the puppet administration has deployed Indian troops in strength particularly in the areas falling under Rainawari, Nowhatta, Khanyar, Maharaj Gunj, Safakadal, Maisuma, Kralkhud, Kothibagh and RM Bagh police stations in Srinagar to foil the march.
“On December 10 seminars, symposiums, and programmes are held and statements are issued for safeguarding the human rights of every person. The United Nations has itself created a forum called human rights commission that also makes hue and cry on human rights abuses. Kashmir is also part of human civilization and humans with same blood and flesh are living on this land but these humans are being treated like cattle by Indian oppression for a long time now,” the JRL said.
The police raided the residence of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, twice, but he went into hiding to evade arrest so that he could lead the peaceful march towards the UN observers’ office.
