Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that Kashmir is not a part of India and Indian leadership should avoid parroting about this.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “We time and again repeat that Indian leadership has made commitment with international community and with us.” He said that it was India which took the Kashmir dispute to the UN and promised before the World Body that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would be given the right to self-determination. He assured the Kashmiri people that one day they would achieve freedom from Indian bondage.
Syed Ali Gilani reiterated that the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) will hold a public programme on 15th December 2017 at Lal Chowk in Islamabad. He asked the people to attend in large numbers saying it will symbolize their attachment with the freedom movement and leadership.
The APHC Chairman held the pro-India parties responsible for the present appalling situation in the territory, saying that they are responsible for the forced Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. “They are opportunists,” he said and urged the people to boycott the upcoming so-called elections. He added that the Kashmiris don’t nourish any animosity against India or its people nor do they want to take any part of it, however the country has forcibly occupied their homeland.
Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani was taken to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar after he complained of what doctors termed as “urinary incontinence”. A close associate of the APHC Chairman told media that the octogenarian leader had been complaining of back pain for the last two days as well. “After medical investigation, doctors did tests and the ultra-sound of his abdomen showed normal results,” he said, adding that the doctors advised Syed Ali Gilani rest and medicine.
Later, he was taken back to his Hyderpora residence. A police van escorted the ailing leader’s vehicle all along the way to hospital and then back home. There were cops at the hospital as well, some of them in civvies.
The 88-year-old APHC Chairman, who is suffering from various ailments and is on a pacemaker, has been under continued house arrest since 2010. He has only been allowed to move out of his residence in a medical emergency. Two vans of Indian police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) remain stationed outside the main gate of his residence.
