Srinagar: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has strongly condemned the ill-treatment meted out to the illegally detained Kashmiris lodged in different jails of the territory and India.
According to KMS, the JI spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that thousands of innocent Kashmiris were languishing in jails in and outside the Kashmir Valley only for the reason that they wished such a resolution of the Kashmir dispute which represented the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
He said that presently all the jails in occupied Kashmir were filled with the innocent detainees and a good number of them was languishing in Tihar and other jails of India. He said that these detainees were neither provided with suitable food nor given proper medical facilities. “They are given beastly treatment in the jails in Jammu and such stringent procedure for meeting with them has been imposed which has virtually made it
impossible for their family members to meet them. Furthermore, the judicial orders regarding their release are openly dishonoured and as such all channels to get justice have been closed,” he added.
The spokesman said, “We express solidarity with all these innocent prisoners. We express deep concern over the pitiable conditions they are confronting and demand unconditional release of all of them.” He appealed to the international human rights bodies to take immediate notice of the deplorable conditions of the Kashmiri prisoners and take effective steps to get the inhuman treatment of these jail inmates stopped.
