Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Indian authorities have barred senior APHC leader and President of Anjuman Shari Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, from attending an annual Islamic Conference in Iran by not renewing his passport.
A spokesman of Anjuman Shari Shian in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi had received an invitation from the Government of Iran to participate in annual International Religious Awareness Conference. However, he said that the party chief would not be able to attend the event as the Indian government had not renewed his passport.
The spokesman said, the conference will be held in Tehran while Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi has been invited by Dr Ali Akbar Willayati. This Conference is being organized every year and Islamic scholars from around the globe participate in it, he added.
The statement condemned the Indian government’s move of not renewing the passport of Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi. “It is irony that religious freedom is being choked for keeping a different political ideology,” he deplored.
