Islamabad: Accountability Court (AC) has issued bailable arrest warrants of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for not appearing before it in connection with reference filed against him by NAB for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.
AC judge Muhammad Bashir took up the case for hearing on Monday.
During the course of hearing, Ishaq Dar didn’t appear before court while his Counsel Khawaja Harris filed an application seeking exemption for his client from attendance in the court on Monday .
Khawaja Harris took the plea that Dar’s health deteriorated all of a sudden and he had to fly to London for his medical check up. Therefore he should be given exemption from court hearing.
At the occasion Harris also filed medical report of Dar.
On the other hand, NAB prosecutor while objecting to medical report of Dar said medical report was not filed according to prevalent laws . .
NAB while praying the court to issue arrest warrants against Finance Minister said minister should not have gone abroad when he knew he was to appear in the court. .
Court while accepting NAB plea issued bailable arrest warrants of Ishsq Dar and adjourned the hearing till November 2. Notice was also issued to guarantor of Ishaq Dar.
Four prosecution witnesses including Masood Ghani, Abdul Rehman Gondal, Faisal Shehzad, and Muhammad Azeem appeared before court .
Abdul Rehman Gondal filed record documents comprising 2 sacks. The record was reviewed by Khawaja Harris counsel for Ishaq Dar. He raised objection over the record saying what record was demanded by them has not been provided. .
The learned judge remarked, “You should have given these arguments before”.
The court while rejecting Dar’s petition from court exemption, issued his bailable arrest warrants and adjourned the hearing till November 2.
