Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Riphah Institute of Healthcare Improvement & Safety (RIHIS), a constituent institute of Riphah International University is organizing a two day 2nd International Conference on Patient Safety, 2017 hosted by Agha Khan University Hospital, Karachi on October 28-29 2017. The conference will discuss various subjects relating to “value based safe health care”.
The chancellor Riphah International University Mr. Hassan Muhammad Khan will be the chief guest at the inaugural session of the conference to be held at Agha Khan University Hospital at 9 AM on Sunday (October 29, 2017). The Lt. General Zahid Hamid, HI (M); Surgeon General, Pakistan Army Medical Corps, Surgeon Rear Admiral Najm-us-Saqib Khan, HI(M), T.Bt, Director General Medical Services, Navy, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman, Higher Education Commission, Mr. Naveed Kamran Baloch, Federal Secretary, Ministry of National Health Services will be the guests of Honor on the occasion.
The main objective of the conference is to help and developing a patient centric mindset, create awareness about patient safety, medical errors and health care quality in Pakistan and the region. It will also discuss building capacity of professionals involved directly in the process of delivering quality health care and managing patient safety in their institutions. The conference will help bringing together the stake holders in Pakistan in this regard.
The key note speakers from across the world include Prof. Dr. Ole Tjomsland from Norway, Dr. Najeeb Al Shorbaji from WHO, Dr. Russell Gann from Saudi Arabia, Dr. Salma Jaouni from Jordan, Ms. Caroline Bilen (CEEMEA), Dr. Babar Sultan Hasan from Agha Khan University Hospital, Ms. Isabelle Wachsmuth (WHO Geneva), Dr. Paul Barach from USA, , Dr. Kelsey Flott from UK .
There will be seven pre-conference workshops on “International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG), Failure Mode effect analysis (FMEA), Healthcare quality Evaluation & Accreditation, Facility Management & Safety, Team STEPPS, Sentinel events/root cause Analysis (RCA), Medication safety/adverse drug reaction (ADR) on Saturday October 28, 2016.
