Islamabad: Election Commission of Pakistan while reserving the judgment in disqualification reference against Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf defiant member National Assembly Ayesha Gulalai adjourned the hearing till October 24.
ECP five members bench presided over by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Hayat took up the case for hearing on Tuesday.
During the course of hearing C EC Sardar Raza Hayat while addressing PTI Counsel Sikandar Bakhsh said, “what is the procedure of resignation in your party?
PTI Counsel replied, there is no procedure laid down in PTI constitution for suspension of any party member and party chairman has the authority to suspend or expel any party member.
He said Ayesha Gulalai turned defiant after announcing to quit the party. Therefore, her assembly membership be cancelled as she has deviated from party policy.
He further said that her resignation is not mandatory for leaving party.
However, Ayesha Gulalai Counsel Barrister Masroor has rejected all allegation leveled against his client.
He while presenting details of showcause, Courier Company booking and delivery said malafide intention has come to fore regarding showcause notices as showcause notice was posted after lapse of fixed date and PTI Chief didn’t give a chance to Ayesha for filing reply.
He said the notice whose reply was sought at August 17 was posted at August 18.
He said neither Ayesha has left PTI nor has she said about resigning from her seat in National Assembly on August 07. .
On it CEC said that transcript of Ayesha speech in the NA should be provided to ECP.
Election commission while reserving the judgment after hearing arguments adjourned the hearing till October 24. Verdict will be announced on October 24.
