Karachi: National Centre for Maritime Policy Research (NCMPR), Bahria University has organized one-day seminar to celebrate “World Maritime Day” at Pakistan Maritime Museum Auditorium. The theme deliberated in the seminar was “Connecting Ships, Ports and People”.
Commander Pakistan Fleet,Vice Admiral Kaleem Shaukat HI(M) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. General Manager (Ops), Karachi Port Trust Rear Admiral Asif Hameed HI(M) and renowned maritime scholar Cdre (R) S M Obaidullah SI(M) presented talks on this occasion.
During the Seminar, Rear Admiral Asif HameedHI(M) discussed initial challenges and opportunities for developing port & shipping sectorin emerging scenario. While addressing the audience Cdre (R) S M Obaidullah SI(M) deliberated that Pakistan should reconcile different needs and desires by promoting maritime sector.
In concluding remarks, Chief Guest said that maritime sector plays significant role in creating employment, prosperity, and solidness ashore through advancing trade by sea. He said the theme of the day provides us an opportunity to identify and promote best practices and building bridges between the many diverse actors involved in ports, shipping and related maritime sector.
The event was attended by, various prominent dignitaries, naval officers, government officials, intellectual sand researchers.
