Brussels: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (PM AJK) Raja Farooq Haider Khan has reached Belgium to attend annual events of Kashmir week in European Parliament.
Prime Minister will meet Members of European Parliament, civil society members and officials of Embassies, Media persons and others during his stay in Brussels. The AJK PM is accompanied by Senior Minister Ch. Tariq Farooq and MLA Overseas Raja Javed Iqbal. On reaching Brussels, Chairman Kashmir Council EU Syed Ali Ali Raza, well known Kashmiri leader and others including Sardar Siddique, Raja Javed, Khalid Joshi, Raja Khalid, Raja Imtiaz and Chaudhary Ateeq welcomed the Prime Minister and his delegation.
Speaking on the occasion Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider said, “The EU is an important global forum and our efforts are to convey the voice of Kashmiri people through this forum”. He said that Indian cruelty against the oppressed Kashmiri people is a flagrant violation of international law. “Indian forces victimized hundreds of Kashmiri people with pellet guns and forced killings”, he said adding that we hope that EU being champion of world human rights would insist on an independent and impartial investigation on this case”.
He said that India has oppressed the people of occupied Kashmir and the global community should take effective notice of it.
Terming unresolved Kashmir dispute as a bone of contention in South Asia the PM said that peace in the region was directly linked to the settlement of this lingering dispute in accordance with the wises and aspirations of Kashmir people.
Prime Minister thanked chairman of Kashmir council EU Mr. Syed Ali Raza Syed for his invitation to attend this grand event. Speaking on the occasion Syed Ali Raza said that members of European Parliament, political and religious figures, intellectuals and members of the civil society would be participating in the EU summit week.
He said, “The series of annual events of Kashmir by the Kashmir Council EU have been continuing for many years; these events are being held in the European Parliament hosted by the member of the EU Parliamentarian Doctor Sajjad Kareem.” He said that this time, international conferences, seminars, discussions, documentaries, photographs and craftsmanship are part of the week-long events. “This time, photographs of a famous French photographer ‘Ceadric Gerbehaye’ of Indian occupied Kashmir will also be displayed in exhibition. This glimpses exhibition will continue in Brussels till October 22”, he concluded.
