Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that continued house arrest is taking a heavy toll on the health of its Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani.
Syed Ali Gilani, who continues to be under house detention for a long time now, was once again barred from offering the congregational Friday prayers.
The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemning the puppet authorities for their dictatorial approach said that this was an open demonstration of state terrorism.
“Since 2010, Syed Ali Gilani is confined to four walls of his residence as police authorities have practically turned his residence into a sub-jail. His continued house detention is taking a heavy toll on his health,†he said.
The spokesman ridiculed the puppet regime led by Mehbooba Mufti for its rhetoric about ‘battle of ideas’. He said, “Their all slogans and tall claims have proved to be a fraud and a hoax.â€
Meanwhile, the spokesman condemned the arrest of APHC Chief Spokesman, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, who was arrested from his residence and lodged in police station Batamaloo. He also denounced the house detention of APHC leaders, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Muhammad Ashraf Laya.
“The arrest spree and all these brutal acts are aimed to create scare and break the resolve of leadership. But people will never disassociate themselves from freedom movement and won’t succumb to pressure and corrosive tactics. We will pursue our goal despite all odds and psychological crackdown won’t deter us from carrying on our cherished mission,†he added.
The spokesman also condemned slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act, on 18-year-old Riyaz Ahmad Dar and his shifting to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.
