Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The legislative assembly of Azad Kashmir on Friday approved “The Azad Jammu & Kashmir Constitution of Shariat Appellate Bench of the High Court Act, 2017″ whereby AJ&K Shariat Court has been merged into AJ&K High Court and a new Shariat Appellate Bench had been setup under the High Court.
The legislative body passed 7 law drafts of various Acts and Ordinances tabled by Chairman Select Committee of the House after examining it. Earlier the AJ&K Assembly resumed its business with deputy speaker Sardar Farooq Tahir in the chair.
Chairman Select Committee of the House Ali Raza Qadri presented reports of the committee on law drafts in the House and the House unanimously passed ” The Azad Jammu & Kashmir Constitution of Shariat Appellate Bench of the High Court Act, 2017ØŒ The Prohibition (Enforcement of Hadd) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2017, ØŒ The Offences Against Property (Enforcement of hudood) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2017,ØŒ The Offences of Zina (Enforcement of Hudood) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2017ØŒ The Offences of Qazaf (Enforcement of Hudood) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2017.
After approval of “The Azad Jammu & Kashmir Constitution of Shariat Appellate Bench of the High Court Act, 2017” the AJ&K Shariat Court has been merged into AJ&K High Court and a new Shariat Appellate Bench had been setup under the High Court.
Earlier the Prime Minister while holding a press conference at the Assembly Hall said the government believes in stability of the institutions and after the setting up the Shariat Appellate Bench, cases would be trailed speedily and people will get speedy justice easily.
He thanked the all parliamentary parties, Ulmas and lawyers for putting their input in finalizing the new Act. He said his government would continue to serve people and resolve their issues.
