Highly low hiring rate aggravating residential problems for federal teachers

Islamabad : Low hiring rate allowed by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to the teachers working in its educational institutions in federal capital has multiplied their miseries.

The hiring limit allowed to teachers is far less than the actual rent of the houses in federal capital and this state of affairs has forced the teaching staff to hire the houses in rural areas.

The minimum limit of hiring has been fixed as Rs 14000 while a house of average covered area is available at the rate ranging between Rs 35000 to Rs 40000 in Islamabad.

“ How can we pay the difference of rent that runs to Rs 20000 out of own pockets when our salaries can not even cater to our household needs, said a group of teachers.

We have now shifted our families in the homes hired by us in rural areas but this way our transport problems have aggravated as we have to pay a sizeable amount on account of bus fare for going to our schools and returning to homes, said a teacher.

The Federal Government Teachers Association (FGTA) teachers have demanded of the government to raise hiring rate by 100 percent so that they could hire the homes in federal capital.
