Islamabad: (Parliament Times) While terming 6th September as the day of national unity the AJK President Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan and Information Minister Mushtaq Ahmed Mihas have said that on this day in 1965 Pakistani nation and its valiant armed forces demonstrated remarkable unity and invincible resolve to protect the homeland from Indian aggression.
â€œFor Pakistan 1965 war was a great challenge and after accepting this enormous challenge the Pakistani nation utilized its all available resources and ability to defend the country and foiled the nefarious designs of its enemy, which was much bigger than its sizeâ€, they said in their separate messages to the nation issued on the eve of Pakistanâ€™s Defence day. â€œIt is time to revive the spirit of unity of September 6, in meeting the new challenges. Let us pledge to make Pakistan one of the greatest nations of the worldâ€, they said.
In his message to the nation on Pakistanâ€™s Defence Day, the AJK president Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan saluted the heroes who rendered matchless sacrifices to protect the territorial integrity of Pakistan. He said that 6th September is a historic day. â€œOn this day in 1965 the Pakistani nation while fighting Indian aggression demonstrated great unity and patriotism that will be remembered for a long time in the annals of Pakistanâ€™s Defence historyâ€, he said adding that coming generations would certainly be proud of this saga of bravery, pride and patriotism. He said that during 1965 war Pakistan army set great examples of bravery, war skills and unique abilities of defending the motherland.
While lauding the supreme sacrifices rendered by the people of Indian held Kashmir the AJK president on the occasion said that India has unleashed reign of terror in the region. He, however, maintained that Kashmiris have offered unprecedented sacrifices for their inalienable right, the right to self-determination. He said that the day was not far when Kashmiris will achieve their cherished goal of freedom from Indian illegal occupation. Urging India to stop bloodbath of Kashmiri nation he said that instead of complicating the Kashmir issue India must create a congenial atmosphere where by the lingering dispute could be resolved peacefully in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people and in line with the UN resolutions.
The Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan in his message to the nation said, â€œOn the occasion of Defence Day, we salute our national heroes who have rendered great sacrifice to defend the motherlandâ€. Terming Pakistan army as defenders of the nation he said Pak army had always defended the ideological and geographical frontiers of the country besides thwarting the external conspiracies successfully. â€œIt is a matter of great satisfaction and pride that our army has been rendering matchless sacrifices to defend the countryâ€, the PM said adding that Pakistan army has the ability and potential to respond befittingly to any kind of foreign aggression. He said that freedom movement of Kashmir was one of the top priorities of the incumbent government.
Lambasting the Indian governmentâ€™s non-seriousness he said that India was not serious in resolving the issuing of Kashmir. Instead of resolving the issue peacefully he said that India was using its military might to crush Kashmirisâ€™ legitimate struggle. He said that the determined masses of Kashmir will not give up their struggle until they achieve their long cherished goal of freedom. He also lamented over the killing of innocent civilians, molestation of women, torture and extrajudicial killings by Indian occupation forces in IoK and urged the international community to take effective notice of gross human rights violations in the region. Information Minister Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas while paying homage to martyrs of 1965 war said that Pakistani nation and armed forces had offered supreme sacrifices to safeguard the motherland from India aggression.
